(5.3.12) Lightning Storm over Chicago-10

    Prev Next

A close-up, look at the main culprit behind the storm - A towering cumulonimbus cloud with rotation, possibly a mesocyclone. I'm really diggin' the smooth textures and striations in this shot - which stand in stark contrast to the fury it is unleashing.

Set Description: A pretty wicked lightning storm swept the south side of Chicago the night of 5/3 I photographed it from my balcony near Pilsen

0 Beautiful, Jef! I got a good shot from about the same time, shortly after the moon made an appearance. Perhaps it was the fact that I edited them after the night shots I took, or the Gin and Tonics, but they didn't have the same pop as yours. Maybe I'll go back and re-edit lol

Definitely a mesocyclone, the striations indicate rotation. Great shot.
