Little paper houses - unfinished

Newer Older

I have wanted to make some glitter houses since my friend gave me an ornament with a tiny glittered house inside a few years ago. I found out they are a pretty popular old fashioned decoration for the holidays, the more substantial old ones are called "Putz Houses". I found some helpful templates online (linked below) for several different styles. I used those for the form though I didn't want to do the windows and doors the same. I may even make some patterns of my own since fashioning the houseboat and caravan wasn't too difficult once I got the hang of working with the card-stock. Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue is indispensable as are decent scissors, scalloped edge scissors and x-acto blades.

Small cottage and big cottage info, very helpful.

You do know what "putz" means in Yiddish...?

Lovely! Where will you display these?

My class made paper houses in an art class I took in college. It was fun and we displayed them in the school picture window. I made my building from a crown pattern, so it was round.

Dan- Do you still have any of your collection?

    Thanks Charity!

wangreen- Oh a round house! I like that idea! I think we may make a snowy mountain to display them on. Perhaps with a way to pop a light strand through to light the houses from within.

they are all gone. I had them in a box for a couple years and figured someone else would probably display them, so they were sold
