woodstock hyacinths, beauties of a random universe

view light box - planting bulbs in autumn is an activity that requires imagination - dreaming of how spring will look. It is never quite as I imagined it would be, because we live in a random universe and here in the UK the weather is particularly random. I planted these fragrant hyacinths in a large pot outside and they have been spectacular. I planted them for Elsie as one of her favourite colours is purple and I imagined at us sitting in the garden at Easter enjoying the perfume. It has been raining on and off since Thursday, the first day of the hose-pipe ban (drought measure). So I cut 5 of the hyacinths and put them in a vase for the dinner table yesterday . ..
