Comic Books Baskets
We have displayed our comic books collection in wire baskets and placed them on top of the shelves above the 741.5 section. The baskets are looking quite empty as these are very popular books.
Our junior high kids love being able to see the front covers and flip though them rapidly to find what they're looking for. The books stay fairly tidy throughout the day with very little fixing needed. A library worker's dream!
Tags were made from paper, then laminated, and finally a colourful ribbon was pulled through to hold them onto the baskets.
The rectangular baskets were purchased at Real Canadian Superstore in the closet organization section for $7 each. They're extremely strong and turned sideways, they hold larger books. We chose these baskets over plastic bins as they're more durable and relatively see-through.
TIP: Some baskets have rough edges on the bottom and may scratch surfaces. Attach little rubber or felt circles to the bottom of each before using (available at dollar stors, Wal-Mart, or hardware stores). I lucked out and found baskets that are smooth on the bottom.
