Firefighters rest while electricity is cut

Somerville (Mass.) firefighters rest while waiting for an NStar employee to disconnect power to the Rogers Foam Corp. building on Vernon Street. I lived across from the building at the time.

A foam cutting machine was the alleged cause of the fire, which had burned for several hours before firefighters arrived on the scene at 7 a.m. on July 28, 2007.

Do you know what happened to the structure? How damaged is it, and did anything happen to the art studios next door?

They went back to work Monday... and the art studio building was untouched by the flames. The burnt part is now covered by plywood and a blue tarp.

This is an old mill building, remember, mostly built of brick. Newer factories would have sustained greater damage, but the brick kept the fire from expanding.
