USS New York and USS Porter transit the Strait of Hormuz.

STRAIT OF HORMUZ (June 10:: 2012) The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21):: front:: and the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) transit the Strait of Hormuz. New York and Porter transited the strait with the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). New York is part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU) and is deployed supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
