Waves break over the bow of USS New York.

GULF OF ADEN (June 5, 2012) Waves break over the bow of the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) as it approaches the Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Carl Brashear (T-AKE 7) for a vertical replenishment. New York is part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU). New York is deployed supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
