2020 Australia Bushfire Assistance
During the winter of 2019/2020, 362 U.S. Federal employees deployed to Australia to assist with bushfires that burned over 17 million hectares. Employees came from the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forest Service. Department of the Interior bureaus/offices that sent employees include the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and the Office of the Secretary.
