Tetraopes tetrophthalmus, back_2020-07-29-15.26.30 ZS

Red Milkweed Beetle. Found in the natural area slated for the proposed MAGLEV repair facility on public land in Beltsville, Maryland. Tetraopes tetrophthalmus. Lives on milkweed. You know the story. Bright red, lounges on top of the milkweed vine. If you eat me, you will regret it sort of thing. Photo by Anders Croft.

We Are Made One with What We Touch and See

We are resolved into the supreme air,

We are made one with what we touch and see,

With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair,

With our young lives each spring impassioned tree

Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range

The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change.
