Loggerhead nest at Carolina Beach in NC
This nest was found and marked by volunteers patrolling Carolina Beach in North Carolina. On August 7, a crowd gathered at an adjacent nest that was expected to hatch that night but it didn't. While waiting, we learned that a nest leader is assigned to each nest and about 15 volunteers assist that leader by taking turns guarding the nest. Accoridng to the leader of this next the biggest concern they worry about is predators at night.
