Northern Flicker

When you think of woodpeckers you might think of tree trunks. But Northern Flickers are woodpeckers who also spend a lot of time on the ground searching for their main diet of beetles & ants. You may find them year 'round on local refuges. When you're on Roanoke Island visit National Wildlife Refuges Visitor Center.
