Wisdom Returns to Midway Atoll NWR 11/22/2019

Wisdom, the oldest known banded bird in the wild, is a female Laysan albatross that nests within the world's largest albatross colony on Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. She is at least 69-years old and a world renowned symbol of hope for all species that depend upon the health of the ocean to survive. Learn more at Wisdom the Albatross.
Located at the far northern end of the Hawaiian archipelago within Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge and Battle of Midway National Memorial is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. One the oldest atoll formations in the world, Midway provides nesting habitat for over three million seabirds, and was the site of the decisive World War II Battle of Midway, one of the most significant naval battles in history.
