Masonville Cove Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership Designation
Masonville Cove at Baltimore Harbor was designated as the Service's first Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership on September 26, 2013. The designation recognizes the excellence of the partnership at Masonville Cove. The partnership at the site is a great example of using community resources to instill conservation values and ethics in urban residents, especially youth. Eighty percent of Americans live in cities, and the Service has made it a priority to forge a connection between national wildlife refuges and urban communities.
