Atlantic Salmon Egg Rearing Program in Monson, Mass
The Atlantic Salmon Egg Rearing Program (ASERP) is a cooperative environmental education program designed to promote an understanding of fisheries restoration and management and hands-on watershed stewardship through experiential learning in the classroom.

The 2009-2010 academic school year was the seventh year Dawn Lecours participated in ASERP with her fourth grade class at Quarry Hill Community School in Monson, Mass. The program was led by Richard Cronin National Salmon Station Project Leader Mickey Novak.

After months of raising Atlantic salmon fry, the students took two field trips in late May--first to Chicopee Brook for stream, plant and species studies, then to Saw Mill River to release the fry. The students were then taken to the Holyoke Fish Lift at the program's end.
