Youth Conservation Corps and Utah Conservation Corps crews
Youth Conservation Corps and Utah Conservation Corps team up to complete a trail project to increase the current trail at the James V. Hansen visitor center at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge by 1.2 miles. Coordinates were set early in the summer during higher water levels and the crew used a map and flagging tape to mark where the grass would need to be cut short to begin work. This work was difficult, particularly in the hot sun, but very important to the refuge’s visitation program. They were assisted by the Utah Conservation Corps (UCC) who were primarily a bilingual (Spanish) crew and had spent the summer working on trails in various parts of Northern Utah and were able to share their expertise about trail work.
