It was a beautiful spring day in Montana June 7, 2014, when an estimated crowd of 2,000 attended the Welling Up for Watershed Festival & Fishing Derby. Each year the event is held in conjunction with the Watershed Festival, which is organized by the Montana Outdoor Science School. Based on the number of rainbow trout caught, cleaned, and bagged, approximately 600 kids took part in the pond derby. The derby was highly successful thanks to Bozeman Fish Technology Center, Aquatic Animal Drug Approval Partnership, and Montana Fish & Wildlife Conservation Office staffers and volunteers. Many of the parents and children in attendance praised the event and expressed gratitude for the volunteers and organizations involved. One exuberant mother of two boys exclaimed: "this event is a great example of what Bozeman is all about!" The largest fish caught weighed 7.5 pounds.
