Inyo California towhee
The Inyo California towhee (Pipilo crissalis eremophilus) is a bird found in the southern Argus Mountains of the Mojave Desert in Inyo County, California. It is grey-brown in color with the tail, wings, and crown often darker and tinged with a reddish coloration. It is also omnivorous, meaning it feeds on seeds, grain, invertebrates and fruit. The towhee requires dense riparian vegetation and adjacent upland habitat in which to forage for food, nest, and receive protections from predators and shade from the desert sun.
