Three leading U.S. scientists visit Indonesia to promote science cooperation and education
Dr. Bruce Alberts, the former Science Envoy to President Obama, Nobel-laureate Dr. Harold Varmus, and world-renowned agricultural and biotechnology expert Dr. Roger Beachy are visiting Indonesia to discuss ways to enhance science bilateral cooperation between the United States and Indonesia and promote science education. While in Indonesia, the three scientists will meet with government officials, university representatives, business leaders, students, and others. They also will participate in the U.S.-Indonesia Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium. On July 9, the scientists partnered with Dr. Damayanti Buchori from Bogor Agricultural Institute for a discussion at @america, where they spoke about their careers in science, the importance of science education, and opportunities for young Indonesian scientists to study in America.
