APHIS Partnership Appreciation Day CO

by USDAgov

Protecting endangered and threatened species from the impacts of disease, invasive species, and predators is one focus of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services program. Wildlife Services works with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) as a member of the multi-agency Black-footed Ferret Recovery Implementation Team and aids in the recovery of endangered black-footed ferrets through prairie dog disease and damage management. This collection highlights USFWS partner appreciation event at the USFWS’ National Black-footed Ferret Conservation Center on August 15, 2017. The partners celebrated the development, testing and operational use of a new oral plague vaccine bait for prairie dogs. The bait protects prairie dogs from plague and aids in ferret recovery.
