DC Central Kitchen with Peoples Garden Produce

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) employees who volunteer with the People’s Garden spent the morning of Oct. 22, 2013 helping DC Central Kitchen’s staff prepare 5,000 meals for partner agencies in the Washington metropolitan area that includes homeless shelters, rehabilitation clinics, and afterschool programs. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves in the kitchen to learn how the food donated from the garden each week is made into delicious and nutritious meals. Each was given a specific task. Bean burritos with a side of Spanish rice were the menu for that day.
