Department of the Interior, Indian Affairs (BIA) Southern Plains Initial Attack Type 2 Crew Ryan Blackstar, is a Sawyer B Faller, looking for hotspots of hot embers above or below the ground that may threaten homes at the bottom of this hill, during the Beaver Creek Fire, west of Hailey, ID, in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service (FS) and Sawtooth National Forest and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands, on Wednesday, Aug 21, 2013. A sawyer is a person who runs the power saws to cut down trees. The B qualification means the person has demonstrated sufficient judgment, skill, and knowledge to be trained or certified in moderately complex chain saw operations. Certified Faller B individuals may work independently on project or fireline assignments up to their level of skill.
