U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Safety Officer Steve Smestad conducts a safety briefing for chain saw crews in Forest Park, Queens, NY, on Nov. 4, 2012. New York officials requested support from the U.S. Forest Service through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist clearing the parks of downed trees in order to make passage safe for local residents.
