Children participate in several physical activates that promote health, exercise and fun during the summer months at Hamilton Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore, MD on Friday, Jul. 11, 2014. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) summer meals follow this activity. USDA meal programs, such as the Summer Food Service Program and the National School Lunch Program's Seamless Summer Option, ensure that low-income children who rely on school meals for adequate nutrition during the school year can also receive the food they need during the summer months so they are healthy and ready to learn when they return to school in the fall.
