Rory Hagerty, a seventh grade student from Alice Deal Middle School plants beans in the Three Sisters Garden at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA's) People’s Garden on Wed. Jun. 4, 2014 in Washington, DC. The garden is named the Three Sisters Garden for the three crops grown in the garden, corn, beans and squash. Corn the first sister is the tallest representing strength, beans the second sister climb and need the support of the first sister and provide nitrogen for the crops and squash the third sister protect others from sun and animals.
