Engineering competition puts college students to the test
ORLANDO, Fla. -- College engineering students are frantically devising a plan to escape Earth before it is destroyed and set up a civilization on another planet.
This fictional scenario was one of the challenges presented to College Bowl teams at the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference Oct. 7.
The team sponsored by the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command built a rocket ship with an embedded lunar rover so they could explore their new planet. They used aluminum foil, newspaper, saran wrap, cardboard and poster board for construction materials.
