Humphreys celebrates Independence Day with local community
The Fourth of July weekend at Humphreys was packed with three days of events, bringing the American and local Korean community together. During the three days, the Garrison opened its gates to the community to celebrate, enjoy and cultivate new friendships.
The main events began late Saturday afternoon, kicking off with the Eighth Army Band followed by entertainment from Korean singers and dancers hosted by Pyeongtaek City, as well as a performance by the 2nd Republic of Korea Navy Fleet Band.
Military units, Family Readiness Groups and local Korean vendors served a variety of Korean and American favorites and carnival games from booths established next to Independence Park.
The Humphreys Fire Department and 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade put their equipment on display for the crowds. Static displays of an AH-64 Apache and a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter provided a rare photo opportunity for the local visitors.
