Levee L536 south of Rockport

A contractor uses a nuclear density guage to test the moisture and compactness of fill being placed along a setback levee alignment at Missouri River Levee Unit L536, Feb. 11, 2012. Levee L536 did not breach during the Flood of 2011; however, severe scouring action eroded more than half of the levee's width. The construction of the new setback is scheduled to be complete by March 1 and will restore the flood risk reduction at this portion of the levee to its pre-flood status.
