AFP and US Military EOD Train in the Philippines

TARLAC CITY, Philippines (Oct. 29, 2014) - Philippine army Staff Sgt. Noverth Buenaventura and U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal 1st Class James Varner, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, based in Guam, examine an inert improvised explosive device during a Humanitarian Mine Assistance (HMA) Level One training course. The HMA program provides increased humanitarian mine action assistance to countries suffering from the presence of persistent landmines, which maim and kill innocents, obstruct emergency assistance activities, hamper economic development and impede free movement of citizens.
