bug of the day

Newer Older

This bee was not happy when it saw that I was blocking its exit from the squash flower with my camera!

Compare to this photo from last year, taken with a Nikon Coolpix 8700.

Thanks to melittophile for identifying this as a squash bee, genus Peponapis.

Update: This photo has been "Farked" in a most bizarre photoshopping contest (warning, not all images are safe for delicate eyes!)

roudou, VA Tree-hugger, --Tico--, and 238 other people added this photo to their favorites.
