Grizzly with A Bone ~ 2 of 3 photos

The bear is holding the bone with its foot! The bear was sitting on a ledge, with one foot on the rocks below water, and the other one gripping that snack, along with a front paw.

Wow, nice catch! That Jim sure is

    Who is Jim?
  • MeiLover PRO 5y

    Jim is the grizzly :)

Really? I did not read the signs.....but I would have thought he would have a more "exotic" name then that...maybe a Native American name. My bother's name is Jim....sheesh!
  • MeiLover PRO 5y

I don't think BZ has signs about the bears' names, except if there is a baby. I know all of their names. I can help you ID them whenever you need help. :) Actually, his brother is named Axhi. Don't know if it is Native American though.

    lol @ your brother's name!
  • Mary Anne Enriquez 5y

Oh I did see the name Axhi on a sign...but not "Jim".

How do you know all the animals names? All the animals in the zoo, or only at the Great Bear Wilderness?

I am bummed I missed the Raven and the Eagle. Hey, did you know that a pair of Bald Eagles was seen for 10 days hanging around the Skokie Lagoons in Highland Park? Verified and Authenticated. Thats a northern suburb of Chicago. I can't wait to see one some day...overhead, when I am woods/ prairie walking.

Well, don't know how to explain, I just know some of the animals' names. I know the names of the big cats and bears. I know that the wolves have numbers as names.

Oh, wow! I did see the eagle, but not the raven :(

Yo must go there a lot? What is your faverite animal and exhibit? I have been there only 4-5 times in my whole life.
  • MeiLover PRO 5y

Yup. I've been there since the mid 1990's, when I was a few years old.

I have plenty of favorites, but my most favorite animals at the zoo are the sloth bears, polar bears, and grizzly bears. But my #1 favorite is Hudson, the zoo's 3-year-old male polar bear cub. I've been visiting him since March 2008 when he was a year old. I've visited him 6 times now. He's such an awesome bear, and I love him a lot.

Not sure if I have a favorite exhibit. I like all of the exhibits pretty much.

Ahhh, yes, zoos are huge delights to young folks. The older I get, the more it does not delight me. I sure was sore after walking all those miles that day. :-) I was born in the 1950s.

Once I get a car, I think I'll go to the zoo a lot more often instead of every couple months :)

Haha, ok. I probably won't go to the zoo that much when I get older, too.

Funny that we've talked on this photo for 5 days
