The South Atlantic Collection
These pictures, taken in December 2011 and January 2012, are the results of a trip I took on the expedition cruise ship, Island Sky, which is operated by Noble-Caledonia. There were about 90 passengers on board this small ship which took us from the Cape Verde Islands and down the Atlantic, calling at four British Overseas Territories - Ascension Island, St Helena, Tristan da Cunha and the Falklands. It was quite an epic and eventful trip which contained some amazing highs and several lows, notably the ship's mutinous refusal to take us to South Georgia because of . . . well, we never really found out the reason for that terrible disappointment. So we sailed for nine straight days from Tristan to the Falklands and then finally washed up in Punta Arenas, Chile. I hope you like these pictures of some of the last truly remote places on Earth.
