19th Engineers from Fort Knox visit campus
Members of the 19th Engineers, stationed at Fort Knox, were on campus Wednesday for a leadership event hosted by the Office of the President.
They began their day with a campus tour then met with Mary Andrade, coordinator for recruitment for the Speed School of Engineering, to learn how their military careers compare to the engineering degrees UofL offers. Susan Hildebrand, a program coordinator in the College of Education and Human Development, answered questions about CEHD’s Workforce Leadership degree. Soldiers also talked to Kristen Roy, Office of Military and Veteran Student Services, about campus life for military and veteran students.
The day ended with Pfc. Shamaria Hightower throwing out the first pitch at the ESPNU broadcast of the UofL softball game against University of South Florida.
The 19th Engineers will continue a mentoring partnership with both the Speed School and the softball team with future events scheduled for the fall.
