Helping high-need high schoolers
The Office of Community Engagement will oversee a program to help high-need Shawnee and Moore high school students prepare for college success. Kentucky State University is heading the same program at Fern Creek, in cooperation with UofL. The UofL effort is being funded with $2.6 million over five years from the Council for Opportunity in Education, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., and GE Foundation. The program was announced at Shawnee High School on Jan. 14, 2011.
