1800's Playbill - Scottish Zoo and Variety Circus

Scottish Zoo and Variety Circus.

The Scottish Zoo and Variety Circus was located on New City Road, Glasgow. E. H. Bostock was 'its sole proprietor' and it opened for business in the late 1890s. Acts and pantomimes such as Rob Roy on Horseback impersonated by Leicester Alfred Cooke and Rabbit in a Bunch of New Absurdities were presented at the Zoo.

Bostock was in obvious competition with Hengler's Circus as they both endeavoured to out-do each other in the variety and scope of their entertainments.
