UN Women Executive Director Michelle Bachelet joins youth panelists to discuss empowering rural girls

    UN Women Executive Director Michelle Bachelet speaks at a panel discussion entitled “Empowering Rural Girls: From Invisibility to Agency,” held at UNICEF headquarters.

    The panel was comprised of three youth delegates from rural areas in Malawi, Sierra Leone and Pakistan, as well as Ms. Marta Santos Pais, UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children.

    The event was hosted by United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI) in partnership with UN Women, UNICEF, and Plan International as a side event of the 56th Commission on the Status of Women.
