Galima Muhametarimovna leads a calf to its mother on her small farm

Galima Muhametarimovna leads a calf to its mother on her small farm in the village of Altymysh in the Chuy Province of Kyrgyzstan. Before UN Women provided a grant in 2009, Muhametarimovna earned between 5 to 7 Soms (.11 to .15 cents) per liter of milk. She now earns 13 Soms (29 cents) per liter by selling to a large milk producer in Bishkek.
