2012 Art for Peace Competition
The United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific (UNRCPD) organized an awards ceremony on 21 September 2012 to honour the work of 383 Kathmandu Valley six public schools children (grades 5-8) who participated in an art competition with the theme ‘Children and Peace’ in July and August 2012.

The 21st of September is also the ‘International Day of Peace’, which was chosen for the day of the ceremony because it underlines the goals of the competition: to promote understanding of peace and disarmament issues with children at the individual, local and international levels, and have them think about their role in a peaceful society.
