Hydromantes brunus - Limestone salamander

The juvenile animals are quite bright green,which helps them to hide in the wed moss. Unlike the adult species , which are more dull brown,the juveniles are early active. They need to look out for food quicker to sustain growth ....


Still hoping to make a trip to Sardinia to photograph the related Speleomantes out there...
