Upon the adoption of the UN Security Council Resolution A/RES/90/97 on December 2005, it was agreed that every year, April 4 would be celebrated each year as International Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action Day. The UN, AU, African Member States as well as international partners convened at the AU Headquarters to mark the day.
