The 2017 International Peace Day was observed by partners in an engaging panel discussion under the theme: “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend: Meaningful Youth Inclusion in Peace-Building”. UNOAU joined partners including AU-PSD, IPSS, AU-DPA, ICRC-African Union, OxfamAfrican Union among others in organising this event which brought together stakeholders from the academia, diplomatic corps, non-profit sector, international organisations, media among others. Four panels addressed protection, prevention, participation and partnerships. UNSCR 2250 as well as the AU's Youth Charter (art. 17) were drawn upon as instruments that can foster an environment that allows youth to be included in stopping conflict and transforming societies.
