Nepal FPU Medal Parade
Members of the Formed Police Unit 1 from Nepal, serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan have been awarded UN medals for their outstanding work in Juba, the young nation’s capital. A total of 180 sons and daughters of the Himalayan “Roof of the World” were given the much-coveted pieces of metal, with 34 of them being women. Nepal is the world’s fourth largest contributor of uniformed personnel to UN peacekeeping operations. Currently, approximately 5,700 Nepalese, 565 of which are police officers, are serving with thirteen such missions across the world.
