UNMISS to rehabilitate 3,200km of roads in South Sudan

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has announced a major project to repair about 3,200 kilometers of roads across the country.

Speaking at a press conference in Juba on 17 November 2020, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, David Shearer, said the work by engineering contingents from Bangladesh, China, Korea, Thailand, India and Pakistan would be undertaken during the dry season.

He also confirmed that the Juba Protection of Civilians sites had been re-designated as conventional displacement camps under the management and security of the government. This follows the successful transition of similar sites in Wau and Bor.
