4-H/FFA youth work on their animal science projects throughout the year to prepare their animals to show at the Lancaster County Super Fair. Showmanship classes emphasize the youth's handling and knowledge of their animals. In breed, market, and halter (horse) classes, animals are judged on their conformation (body structure). Some animals, such as llamas, dogs and horses, have performance-based classes.
All animal exhibitors are expected to care for their animals (feed, water and manure disposal) and cooperate in keeping stalls and alleys clean, neat and attractive. 4-H clubs and FFA chapters are automatically judged for Herdsmanship ribbons.
All exhibitors showing market animals must be meat quality assurance certified before the fair begins.
A special thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors who help make 4-H & FFA at the fair a success!
