Inaugural Royals Annual Award Dinner
Beginning in 1944, the late Peter A. Carlesimo served The University of Scranton for nearly a quarter century, coaching football, basketball and cross-country, as well as acting as athletic director. All these years later, however, it’s not Carlesimo’s athletic feats that are remembered as much as the way he reached the Scranton community as a friend, humanitarian and father-figure.

On Friday, May 6, 2011, more than 400 people attended the inaugural Royals Annual Award Dinner in the William J. Byron, S.J., Recreation Complex, formally recognizing Carlesimo’s contributions to the rich history of Scranton athletics.

Established to celebrate intercollegiate athletics at Scranton, the dinner honors a person who has made special contributions to the athletics department, and to raise funds for the department and the student-athletes that it serves.
