Reef Relief: Penn Alternative Winter Break 2015
From Jan. 4 to 10, University of Pennsylvania students Laura Park and Pauline Schriebmaier led a group of 14 undergraduates from Penn’s School of Arts & Sciences, School of Nursing, School of Engineering and Applied Science and Wharton School on one of two Alternative Winter Break projects.

The group spent a week volunteering with Reef Relief part of the Key West Nature Conservancy in Key West, Fla. They worked on reef cleanup, on clearing storm drains and on education projects. Housing for the student volunteers was arranged by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Key West.

Another team of 14 Penn students from across the University spent the week working with Habitat for Humanity in Charlotte, N.C.

The Alternative Winter Break program is coordinated by Civic House at Penn. Civic House also organizes the Alternative Spring Break program, set to celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.
