Sulphur Springs Methodist Church 2

Thank you for all views and comments. They are much appeciated. This is one of a series of 6 images of the church.

Sulphur Springs Methodist Church is at Edgewater (a community no longer in existence but once located on Wilson Creek) in Grayson County, Virginia. It's halfway between Volney and Mouth of Wilson. Information on this church is sparse. It may have begun as a Baptist church, date unknown (undoubtedly 19th century). The simple wooden frame church has a pedimented gable front with circular vent, two entrances (male and female probably) with piers flanking both doors and prominent brackets on the overhanging portion of the entrances, which are double-leaf paneled wooden doors. Windows are shuttered. The church structure seems to be maintained although services are no longer held (or so I was told). It's significant that the name is not shown as United Methodist Church.

The geo-tagging involves a little guesswork so is not entirely accurate.
