Goddess Mother of the Universe

Qomolangma, Mount Everest, 珠穆朗玛峰, Tibet.

The Tibetan name, Qomolangma, translates to Goddess mother of the Universe. The Nepali name Sagarmatha सगरमाथा means "Head of the sky". It rises some almost 8 900 meters high.

This photo is taken on the 17:th of July, from the Rongbuk monastery, at 5 100 metres. We came here on horseback. At this time of the year the valley is full of flowers, and it is as if the stones comes alive. The Tibetan blue poppy is one fragile beauty you will see here in large numbers.

It is believed that the very famous and beloved Tibetan saint Milarepa stayed here as well, on his road to enlightenment, praying for all sentient beings and singing his songs.

It is truly a majestic sight and like a natural valley dome leading towards the towering mountain, with its forests of ice at the base and blazing sky above. We stayed at the Rongbuk monastery and to wake up with this sight and to go to bed with it was a blessing.

A cute story: When we arrived to Rongbuk monastery, a young monk opened and went back in again, returning with Swedish blueberry soup, left by a climbing exhibition some weeks earlier. The monk is here:

I bow my head to the great forces of creation and the soul blazing beauty of this region of our precious planet, the Himalayas. Life is Divine, sometimes a sweaty horse ride up along rocky slopes, sometimes just unconditional beauty electrifying the heart :)

Thank you so much for your visit and comments!
