USC celebration 6-4-15
The UNITE Service Corps held a year-end celebration at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg on June 4, 2015. This school year 44 AmeriCorps members worked with elementary students in schools across the Fifth Congressional District providing math tutoring, drug education and sponsoring UNITE Clubs. Seventeen of this year's members were completing their second (and final) year with the USC.

This year's guest speaker was UNITE CEO Nancy Hale, who co-directed the USC program until earlier this year. Melinda Kincer was introduced as Hale's successor in that role, joining Program Director Eugene Newsome

Special musical entertainment was provided by Marlana VanHoose and Carl Varney. Members Becky Young, Bethany Rockrohr and Stacy Crum provided brief reflections on the past year. In addition, Tonya Owens from Congressman Hal Rogers' office presented Cary Hughes of Pike County and Michelle Martin of Rockcastle County with "Difference Maker" awards.
