Helen Clark meets with Maasai women farmers

The people of Namelok in Kenya's Amboseli region have had to learn to adapt to change. They are maasai and traditionally keep and herd livestock, coexisting with the wildlife that lives on their doorstep.

But successive droughts have decimated livestock populations here and many of these villagers have had to diversify and now plant tomatoes, maize and beans to earn a living, May 12, 2012. (Credit: Christina LoNigro/UNDP)
