ECHO Mission to Verkhnetoretske
On 5 December, UNHCR hosted an ECHO visit to the village of Verkhnetoretske in Donetsk Oblast, GCA , located literally on the ‘contact line’. During the visit, the visitors discovered that freedom of movement between GCA, and NGCA have become incredibly restricted. UNHCR and ECHO were approached by many civilians as they explored this village who complained about the difficulties of crossing the ‘contact line’ asking for a solution. Many civilians also expressed fear of falling victims to shelling that happens at night. Other issues raised by civilians included access to pension, access to healthcare and fear of mines.
